New Hub in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan -
a Hub in Central Asia
A «National Children’s Medical Center» has been established in Tashkent to improve pediatric medicine in Uzbekistan and neighboring countries. Currently, two pediatric heart surgeons work there, performing about 200 simple heart surgeries per year. However, the center is designed to perform at least 1000 heart surgeries. This is still low considering the 20,000 children in Uzbekistan who need heart surgery. But it is a big step in the right direction.
EAHF will support this center and train local colleagues. The center will be operated as an actual hub of EAHF in Uzbekistan/Central Asia. Children of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will benefit from this center. At the same time, young colleagues from all over Central Asia can be trained in this center.
